It was my first time inside a real township. Previously I had been too afraid, but I had my friend Graham at my side. Driving in a found something unexpected. Instead of melancholy, I found colour, music, friendly people, vibrance and a community more tightly knit than my grandmothers sweaters. After parking we met Linda, who went from begging for R5 to suggesting we run down to the police station with him to verify he was safe so he could be our tour guide. After taking his number just in case we do, we agreed that he would watch my car - this being after he willfully admitted to having been in jail after I asked about all his tattoos. But, Linda said, he is now a changed man. I am so very glad for him, with that charming smile of his, I have much hope for his future :)
